Group outline

My group members are Ben, Trinidad, Daisy, and Courtney

For our group project we are trying to sell a concept product called TAR-OFF, and also its sister products.

Outline of our presentation:
SLIDE 1
To begin with we will introduce ourselves and each say a local fact about tar. We will use the prezi to accompany our introduction.
"I'm Jesus and today I'll be telling you a little bit about tar, did you know "the chumash used to put tar in their boats to prevent water from entering.”

SLIDE 2
Then we will have a slide in the prezi to give an overview of what the presentation will include:
-Intro and facts (1 min maybe slightly more)
-Problem (1 min maybe slightly less)
-Solution: Our product TAR-OFF (20 seconds)
-Testimonials (1 min 30 secs each followed by 1 min response from Tar Geenie, total skit about 10 min.)
-Video (3 minutes)
-Conclusion (30 sec)
-Break Down (1 min 30 sec)
-Thanks

SLIDE 3
We will have a brief slide outlining the problems off tar on our local beaches--but the particulars of this information will come from the live testimonials. This slide will include some stats, and images of tar.

SLIDE 4
We will have a slide to pitch our product enthusiastically. Maybe with an image, but definitely with our product TAR-OFF in big letters.

SLIDE 5
Will just say "Live Testimonials-don't just take our word for it"

SLIDE 6
An image of a beach back-round because the testimonials will take place at the beach

Then we will go through our skit:
The skit features 4 encounters between someone upset by Santa Barbara tar, and a magic Tar Geenie who appears and markets our product. We will all be in costume.

First--- Ben will act as a local surfer coming out on to the beach after a nice sesh. He will  use a south african(ish) accent to add comedic relierf. As Ben come out on to the beach he will say, "sand oh I love sand, Im gunna do some sand angels" then he will lay on the ground and pretend to do sand angels. After he gets up he'll say croiqe I've got black sticky icky all over my body, how will I get this gel off of my body when I don't have a bottle of soy sauce on meh...If I only I had a Tar Geenie
Then the tar geenie (Courtney) will appear and promote TAR-OFF, saying that it comes in convenient towlette packets which I can carry in my wetsuit. "I'll say radical, thanks tar geenie" and exit stage.

Second--Daisy will enter dressed as a tourist gathering rocks from the beach. She will pretend to get tar on her hands form a real tar covered rock brought from the local beach. Because she is a tourist from Seattle she will say "Oh what is this stuff, if I only there were some Geenie"
Then poof courtney the tar geenie will appear again and promote TAR-OFF. This time she will explain the origins of tar in SB and say that it’s a big part of SB economy to drill oil. The tar geenie will also explain the natural ingrediants to appeal to the seattle hippie. Daisy will say "wow thanks tar geenie"

Third--A local hotel manager (Trinidad) walks onto the beach on break to have a cigarette. She gets tar on her foot and starts to complain about not only does it get on her feet when she walks on the beach, but also tourists track it in and ruin the hotel carpet. She'll say "I spend all my time scrubbing tar, if only there were some kind of tar geenie" and then poof Courtney will again appear. The tar geenie will promote our product TAR-OFF but then also promote the TAR-BAR which can be used on fabric or carpet. Trinidad will be overjoy'd and excliam "wow thanks tar geenie"

Fourth— I will be a local jogger, going for a run on the beach with his pet horse Rusty. I will stop for a break and notice that there is tar all over his expensive Nike running shoes. He will begin to get upset and then realize that his trusty steed Rusty also has tar all over his hoofs and body. I will call out "If only there was a tar geenie" then poof Courtney the Tar Geenie will once again appear. This time she will not only promote TAR-OFF sister product TAR-BAR for my shoes, but this time she will also introduce TAR-BAR Tojan extra strength edition, which I  can use to scrub Rusty clean of tar as well. I will say "great, thank you so much Tar Geenie"

Conclusion-pushing TAR-OFF once more

SLIDE 9
will explain our basic process creating this presentation. We will talk about meeting as a group and going to the beach to ask real people and observe first-hand the problems caused by the local tar. We will talk about how we all worked hard and had great chemistry as a group, we put our minds together and ultimately had a lot of fun coming up with a solution for a problem that we really have observed.
Thanks.

3rd reflection

Compared to my other speeches I have continued to improve. As I was not relying on slides as I did in other presentations but I still need to check on my time and stop with the “uhms.”
Start:
·         I started off right by getting away from screen but then I resorted to that position again so need to find a place away from monitor to not rely on PowerPoint.
·         I need to practice more on presenting and keeping track of time. Practice to someone or in front of a mirror so I feel like it’s the real thing. Put a timer so I know I’m on track. I was over the time limit and I had a couple of important things I still needed to say.
·         I need to feel confident when I present. I felt confident because I knew what I was talking about but I felt nervous being in front of everyone.
·         Paying more attention to time. I was so concentrated on getting my speech done I did not pay attention to the time and went over so I did not actually finish it correctly and caused me to missed an important part. I am depending on a minute per slide but because im am trying to remember everything I go slower.
·         I need to start making more eye contact with the audience while it was a bit nerve wrecking to look at people while you presented I still need to focus on my audience and give the presentation to them rather that floor.
·         I need to change my voice throughout the speech. I used the same tone throughout this one and having different sounds and tone would make it more exciting.
·         I need to control my hands I was playing with them while I presented to relax but that made me look more nervous and unprofessional.
·         I should meet all the guides on the rubric to have an effective presentation. I missed explicitly saying the “moves” of my speech which cost me points although I did present hem. By being organized I could have met this criteria.

Stop:
·         I need to stop Using “UHM”!! This is a big one as I used it several times throughout my presentation and disrupted it from having it flow.
·         I need to stop being so still and not having any body language or engaging gestures that made the audience listen to me.
·         I need to stop relying on the PowerPoint. While I had practiced several times before I felt I was looking at my monitor more than I should have.
·         I need to stop leaving out parts of my speech, especially parts that I have practiced.
·         I need to stop getting a wave of anxiety prior to going up to do my speech. However I think it really helped that I went first because I didn’t get as nervous as the last presentation waiting for everyone to present.

Continue:
·         I improved in many aspects so I should continue to do that. Knowing my topic rather than memorizing it was something that helped.
·         I had a loud voice that my audience could hear what I was saying this was good.
·         I should continue to put an emphasizes on certain words that way it lets my audience know I want them to know that was an important part of my speech.
·         I should continue in making my presentations clear. My objective and purpose was clear, while I did not meet other expectation this was something that was clear.
·         I should continue to adapt my language to the audience I am presenting to. While this presentation was easier because I was sharing with classmates I didn’t change much but I should consider it for other times.
·         I should continue being prepared for my speeches by doing the background research on the subject I was presenting. While I did know part of it already I still researched more on it to make sure.

Classmate’s moves
Canyon always does a great presentation he changed his tone in several occasions regarding what he was presenting. Showed evidence on a very radical choice that made it credible.

Ryan presented on a topic that was also radical and he knew his presentation which made it better. He did not have to rely on his PowerPoint.

Ling put passion into her presentation and did an excellent job in setting up the presentation and how it was organized.
